Who we represent
Alberta's 432 radiologists are specialized physicians with a minimum of 14 to 15 years of medical education and clinical training. They are experts in diagnostic imaging and image-guided procedures, delivering the accurate, timely diagnoses that guide patient care across the province.
As business owners and employers, Alberta radiologists operate 135 community-based clinics across the province, creating jobs for over 4,180 Albertans. They are major investors in advanced imaging equipment and facilities, and they build and lead the highly skilled healthcare teams that deliver imaging to Albertans every day.
Radiologists are united through the Alberta Society of Radiologists, a not-for-profit organization that has represented the profession since 1957. ASR represents 92% of radiologists and radiology residents across Alberta.
What does ASR do?
ASR represents Alberta radiologists through leadership, education, and advocacy to ensure Albertans receive the best possible imaging care. We advocate for patient access to imaging, share research on how radiology is delivered in Alberta, and run education and professional development for our members. We work with the provincial government, Alberta Health Services, and partner organizations on issues that affect imaging across the province. Our members stay connected to radiology research and practice across Canada and internationally, so the care Albertans receive is current and evidence based.
